Norton Antivirus review

Overview

Norton has been around for years and has gone through countless changes. It now covers more areas, support more devices and offer more features.

A major issue with some Anti Virus products we’ve reviewed is false positives.

That is, a safe file can be picked up as unsafe. This is not uncommon for all Anti Virus products and it’s something Norton has gotten better with over the years.

Layout

The interface is nice and clean, it can be bit hard at use to but when you do its easy to use, it has everything out in the open and easy to access.

Inside the security section it offers features like checking scan logs, checking for definition updates and changing advanced settings like turning certain aspects of security off.

When you click scan you get greeted to a nice page giving you multiple scan options to run, for example if you know you have viruses that it cant remove you can run Norton power eraser or other scans.

The scan screen is very simple and gives you information on how the scan is going, how many threats have been found and quarantined all in real time.

The settings page for Norton is set out nice and neatly, everything is under a category accordingly making changing settings if need be easy.

Pros

• Offers a large variety of protection features
• Has a user interface that hides nothing from the user making navigating simple and easy
• Gets definition updates on a weekly basis
• Doesn’t use too may resources
• 24/7 support
• Has ransomware protection

Cons

• Web protection doesn’t do much
• Can pick up safe files as unsafe and can think unsafe files are safe
• User Interface  can be a bit tricky to get use to at first
• Doesn’t accept Bitcoin as payment
• Have to pay for multiple devices

Conclusion

Like everything, Norton has it’s pros and cons, it has a particularly nice UI and easy to access scan settings allowing everything to be seen. It has a range of protection and multiple tools to help as well.
